Just checking in...

I've been getting e-mails from you dearest bloggy friends wondering if I'm still alive and why the heck I haven't posted anything! Ooopsy, so sorry to keep you hanging like that. I didn't mean to get you all worried about me. I should have told you I'm taking a blog break because of my day job. Anyhoo, I have a little bit of time to post so here it is.

First, I know this is waaayyy too late but I want to wish everyone a prosperous NEW YEAR!! Howzit so far? Moi? Well, don't hate me because I was lucky enough to win this wonderful bag over at Beata's last month's giveaway. Bwahahahaha!!! Just look at it! She even embellished the tissue paper with felted flowers! Gorgeous, isn't it. Thank you very much, Beata. I love it!

You should check out her blog. She's AMAZING!!! You are going to need a drool bucket. I mean it! Did you see her babushka dolls? Crocheted projects here, here (including a tutorial), and I LOOOVE what she did with plain T-shirts here. What about her wooly projects here? Oh for crying out loud, just go have a look! You will not be disappointed. Tons of eye candy! I can't wait for her Etsy shop to open. Soon I hope. Real soon. Maybe she'll sell more of her cupcake bags so you can have your very own.

Next, I've been working on this Look and Learn pinwheel quilt since December. I went to the Monday night class at the quilt shop hoping to finish it but of course that didn't happen. Everytime I go there I hardly get anything done. I end up yakking up a storm, eating too much, laughing a lot and shopping for more fabrics! It was a good break for me though. It was great to see Cheryl and the ladies. I'm hoping to attend more often but we'll see.

Totally missed Road to California quilt show. Thank goodness Sharon, Cheryl and Donna promised to take tons of pictures to share! So where are they, ladies?

By the way, did anyone know about Cath Kidston Home? Cath's US online shop that carries her past bed and bath collections at a discount. How come no one told me about this sooner? Are you keeping it to yourself because of the great discounts to be had? Ok, I'm with you on that one because that is something I would do. I know what you're thinking. Selfish little...!!!! Totally and I don't feel guilty at all. All right, calm down. I'm sharing this bit of good news so don't give me that look! Anyway, I bought these lovely embroidered pillowcases with matching duvet cover at 50% off or was it 75% off the retail price. Love it!

Happy, happy! Joy, joy!

Ladies, I feel a yak-fest coming on! Let's start, shall we?

New kid on the Blog

Another lady friend jumped on board the blogwagon recently. Yipeee! Please give your warmest bloggy hello to Donna of The Calico Horse (her quilt shop) and The Quilted Star. A couple of days ago, she had the Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser at her shop. She and her friend Wendy raised over $6,000 for The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer!! Good job ladies! She's the one that quilts for me and probably wondering why I haven't given her any.  Donna, I'm giving you a much needed break from the silly girl. tee-hee!

Update (8-22-07) I failed to mention Darla, who also did a good job at helping with the fundraising. She is a dental hygienist, a Longaberger consultant (my very own personal consultant, tee-hee) and a very talented quilter. She was able to persuade (she's good) the L. company to send a weaver to demonstate basket weaving, the Longaberger way. She also donated baskets to help raise more money. Good job, Darla. I know you're really busy but can you please start your own blog so everyone can have a look-see at your wonderful work. I especially love your little quilts for your "baby". What do you say?

Big news from the Secret Santa Christmas Swap Headquarters

Dsc033301 I just found out my secret santa swap partner. For a small fee I'll give you a hint. I'm serious! LOL! So, who's my secret santa? Can anyone tell me?

Dsc03334 C'mon, I promise I'll be good for the rest of the year! LOL! Just like this cute Christmas tree topper Annie I bought last year from Nicole's shop . Isn't she adorable?! Where were we? Oh yeah, I'm really dying to know who's got my name. Tell me, please. Someone? Anyone? Ok! I guess, I'll have to wait.

Look what I found!

Dsc033061 Dsc03305 I went to the local antique mall and I found this old quilt. I'm not sure if these blocks are feedsacks but I really like it especially the cheddar yellow border. I found this book, too. No torn pages or doodles anywhere. Score! I really like old children's books like this with colored picture on every page. Every page!

Being Nice really Matters!

Nicematters This talented lady from Norththreads kindly nominated me for the Nice Matters Award. Thank you, thank you, thank you! She said I'm "brimming with talent and always inspiring".  Umm, my friends might disagree with you on that one. "Inconceivable," is what they would say. LOL! In return I get to nominate 5 ladies for the award:

  1. PamKittyMorning Super, super nice lady. She's a ray of sunshine. The first person ever to post a comment on my blog. She would be one of the many celebrity bloggers I would like to meet IRL.
  2. Crazy Sharon She's talented, crazy, generous, crazy, funny, crazy and for some odd reason likes me. Crazy huh?!
  3. Cheryl Always happy, smiling, laughing and oh so nice. She's also the binding queen and a major crack up!
  4. Crafty Missy Besides being an awesome mom to 2 lovely girls, she's got mad entrepreneurial skills and somehow finds the time to make sure you're ok.  Anyone would be so lucky to have her as a friend blogland and IRL. Just ask her BFF Nicole, who's got mad skills of her own. Have you seen her Annies? Cuuute!
  5. Monica She's by far the funniest person I have ever met online. Loooove her! Her work has been featured on major quilting magazines and still very down to earth. We miss you like crazy, HZ!

There you go, ladies! Go forth and spread the love!

I was a muse for a day!

Doe Super sweet Lori from PLT mentioned me on her blog yesterday. She made me this cute embroidery. Unbelievable?! Somebody pinch me! She's got me on cloud 9 and I don't ever want to come down.  Her blog is loaded with "oodles and oodles" of  eye candy. She creates yummy little pretties from her super cute tiny house. That house is to die for!  I mean it. What are you waiting for? Go check out her blog! Thanks again, Lori!

Here's a sneek peek of what I'm working on right now.  I'll show the whole thing later. Like later later! lol! Too much basting, you think? tee-hee!

Dsc032981 Dsc03317 Ok, I'm all pooped! I have to go to work tomorrow or later on today. Emma is telling me to hit the hay right now. Toodles!

A quilt in progress, few bags, and cool finds

I was productive this past weekend. I started working on the Roman Holiday (MODA) quilt for the store. Remember, I talked about it here.

Dsc020161_2 Dsc020211_3

There was a lot of cutting. I mean A LOT!! I even started an assembly line hoping to finish the quilt. No such luck! After finishing all the star blocks, I got bored. Instead of working on the alternating blocks, I started doing something else.

I had enough fabric leftover from  the tote (photo on lower right) I made a few years ago to make this cute little purse!! Fully lined with a pocket.

Last Thursday afternoon, I went to the local antique mall and found these!

Dsc02037_2 Dsc02046_2

Four pastel eggcups, a shabby chic-style fabric and a vintage embroidered linen table runner. The table runner had holes in the middle and a few stains. But the embroidery was in perfect condition. I decided to make a tote out of it using a Cath Kidston fabric. Matching embroidered panels on both sides. It is fully lined with pockets. I even machine embroidered my own "tag" right above the pockets. What do you think?

Bunny-kin with a hare-bowl of cherries

So you want to know where I got Bunny-kin and the bowl? Is that right?! Well, let me see if I can remember. Oh, yeah...

I wrote the date of purchase on the company tag that's how I remember. LOL! I was at a local gift shop looking for Easter decorations when I came across Bunny-kin. She was looking at me as if to say, I know you want it! Go ahead, pin me! Ugh! That didn't come out right but you know what I mean. I bought her in April 2003 and she was made by Midwest of Cannon Falls. I don't know if they still make it but you can always ask the company.Dsc01404Dsc01423

Dsc014171I bought the bowl at a shop somewhere in San Francisco 5 years ago. Went back the next year to buy more but the store was gone. It was replaced by a beauty salon. Dang it, I didn't want a facial I just wanted more bowls! I didn't think to search online until now. I looked and looked and looked  and i came across Replacements,LTD. Unfortunately, they don't have the pattern in stock but you can register for their updates.  Sorry ladies! Happy hunting. Dsc014181
