Tanya Whelan of Grand Revival Design did it again! I love her new line Ava Rose and as soon as the collection was available I bought a fat quarter bundle and then some. What fabric diet? Cheryl would always say, "Go right ahead, there's always tomorrow". So true! Hehehe!
I have plenty of WIPs to finish but this collection was screaming at me. So I sat aside other projects (like I always do) to work on a new one. Gawd, I wish I have self control so I can be productive like Darlene. I'm jealous she's got lightning speed skillz! Ugh, I think I have quilter's ADD! I get bored easily and in my head I'm already planning on the next 5 projects. I bet I'm not the only one to have this condition. So many projects, so little time, right?! Oh, about my quilt...
I used MODA's Make Mine Pink, Please! pattern which you can download for free from their website. I would post a link if I could but I'm having technical difficulty getting on their site.
Update: It's now working. More like, I finally hit the right link this time. Click here for Moda's free patterns.
Anyhoo, this is the finished top. It's rather girly, don't you think? That's why I LOOOVE it ! BTW, it was foggy in my bedroom when I took this picture. Hah! Toodles!
I'm talking about Cheryl and her one year bloggiversary. Has it been a year? Wow, I feel old all of a sudden... nah! Anyhoo, I didn't want to be the only one amongst my quilting friends to have a blog. So for months (I think it took only a few days. hehehe!) I did my darnest to convince Cheryl to start her own blog. We were hooked on PamKittyMorning's daily adventure and visited everyone else's blog on her sidebar. After weeks of blog lurking, Cheryl was finally ready to have her own. Yay! And one year later, she's celebrating in a big way. For starters, she's retiring. Waaah! I'm going to miss seeing her at the shop. She's also a brand spanking new grandma. Oooh, that little Luke is soo lucky. He's going to be spoiled by grandma, that's for sure!
Generally when someone talks about bloggiversary, there's a giveaway of some sort. You read it right. A GIVEAWAY! Yep, Cheryl has a giveaway. So please hop on over and give her some bloggy love. You never know you might win a cute Raggedy Old Annie from Nicole and other stuff. So why are you still here? Go, go, go!
The title should have been "Me? A copycat? Fo sho!" but I think the above is more appropriate. Anyhoo, this is more like a 'show and tell' post. Because I'm too busy playing with my dolls to actually show you what I'm currently working on. This is also to let you know I'm alive and kicking... for now! I'm still quilting in case you're wondering.
Just like everyone else, I'm constantly being inspired by a lot of talented people and I'm lucky enough to know some of them personally. Meaning, I can ask gazillion questions, bug the heck out of them, and not get a restraining order or a busy signal all of a sudden. Hehehe! The quilters that I'm inspired by are very talented and awe-inspiring group of crafters, who are willing to share if you ask them kindly. One of them is Sharon from Red Geranium Cottage. You probably read her blog and know that she is a generous lady through and through. I saw Sharon's adorable doll size quilt, a rail fence pattern. Of course, I wanted to make one and she was generous to give me info on this particular quilt. I made a lap size using the same fabric collection. I think it was Retro..., umm, something-something collection by Sharon Yenter. Yeah, that's right!
Sharon was kind enough to send me a photo of her darling little quilt so i can share it with you folks! Isn't it cute?
She gave me the size of the strips to make the block but I can't remember because I didn't write it down. Silly lil' me! The strips are really skinny-mini. This is the book I used to make a bigger quilt. Sorry for the crappy pictures...
So this is my version of her doll size quilt. Very colorful! I like it A LOT! Thanks mucho, Sharon.
The backing I used is from the same collection, Retro something-something. I'm so sorry I really can't remember the name and I'm so lazy to look it up right this second. So I'm hoping you know what collection I'm talking about. Anyhoo, this is it for now. Toodles!
