Show and Tell

Hello there!!

I haven't done anything crafty lately so i'll just show you one of my quilts you haven't seen before. This is a quilt I made seven years ago. My first paper-foundation quilt and the second quilt I ever made. Ok, maybe the third quilt if I count the quilt I made in beginner's quilting class. I was such a newbie I wasn't afraid to try anything. I used Aunt Grace Thru the Year fabric collection, my very first 30's repro (love it!), Little Foot paper foundation, heavy cotton chenille for backing and no batting. Donna did such a beautiful job quilting this for me. The Binding Queen couldn't stop talking how easy it was to bind it. hehehe! She thoroughly enjoyed binding it for me... NOT! She said the chenille was soo thick she had a hard time sewing the binding on and broke all her fingers in the process. Ok, the last part wasn't true. She threatened to charge me double even triple the next time I give her a quilt with heavy backing. Grrrrrr!

Bloggy update

I think it's time for a change.
The girls are taking over this blog. Not that there's anything wrong with that but they need their own playground. It's better that way, I think. My sewing machine and my WIPs are crying for some time in the spotlight. I feel for them. Really. I mean, the girls can be guest bloggers here once in a while just not all the time. After days of trying to figure out how to create a weblog (again), I finally have their space up and running. It still needs a lot of tweaking but at least I got it started. Won't you please check it out? Let me know what you think? Many thanks!

CRACK du jour!

Been too busy...

...playing with my dolls! LOL!

I'm not going to give up quilting/crafting all together but I've decided to divert my fabric fund and spend my free time on my new obsession or should I say, my crack du jour - Blythe dolls and doll accessories! Just kidding! To be on a fabric diet again is not a bad idea though. The last time it took me about a month before I caved in and splurged. I'm still hoping to purchase "wee play" fabric collection but I'm not in a hurry. You'll see why.

Just in case you want to know how my doll collecting has gotten out of control in a few weeks, see them gerrrlzz below. My fabric fund is becoming none existent because now I buy clothes, shoes and re-ment miniatures for my girls. Then I spent most of my free time taking pictures of them. Lucky for me Sweetie and I have an understanding, I've got my dolls and softies and he has his action figures and DVD collection. Remember Buddy? hehehe! He's one of Sweetie's toys.

Crazy, huh?! Hmm, I think I should be on a dolly diet starting...NOW!

A glimpse into the future

Many moons from now, I will show you the rest of this photo. If I get my act together, I will show you in a few days...or a couple of weeks. Ummm, I think I will stick with the "many moons from now" bit just in case. Tee-hee!

Ta-done!!!

Nothing but work, work, work lately. Somehow I managed to finish a quilt.

I used Barefoot Roses pink polka dot fabric, 2 Simplicity charm packs, not sure if I used 1 yard for the inner border and few fat quarters for the outer border. I found the pattern called Ocean Waves Variation over here. The blocks are made out of half triangle squares so I didn't have to worry about using the pattern's measurements.

Lovely gifts

Last week I received presents from these generous lovely ladies, Jen (thrifting and re-modelling extraordinaire) and Darlene (prolific quilting queen). Jen sent me these colorful set of melamine bowls, pretty pastel charm packs and adorable tea light candle holder. Darlene gave me one of her famous heart pincushions made out of ME fabrics complete with heart pins. Loooove it! Thank you very much ladies!!!

More Macro Challenge

I joined this challenge to improve on my photography skills (still a bit rusty). I can't believe I actually read the manual to figure out the buttons on my point and shoot camera. For this challenge, we are using the macro setting, that's the flower button on your camera, to take close-up pictures.

These pictures are taken with and without the macro setting. The camera lens is about 2 1/2 inches close to the buttons.

Here I'm playing with the exposure. According to my camera's manual, exposure is the amount of light that the camera receive when you release the shutter. Correct exposure or is it underexposure (too little light/darker image) and the second is overexposure (too much light/whitish image). The camera will adjust it for you if you are using the auto adjustment mode or you can do it manually by adjusting the shutter speed and aperture value. Blah, blah, blah...

That's enough lesson for today. Anyhoo, more photo entries for the macro challenge. Enjoy!
